Although dogs may be man’s best friend, they aren’t always the best communicators—at least not in human terms. This infographic, made by Barking Royalty, describes 10 different reasons your puppy or older dog may not be eating. Often, as the infographic explains, this has little to do with finicky preferences and more to do with underlying health problems. According to the infographic, your dog’s lack of appetite may be the first sign of illness. They may also not want to eat because of a recent vaccination; unfamiliar surroundings; a routine change; an upset stomach; constipation; or because they’ve been left alone for the first time. They may also be less inclined to eat if they are observing that older dogs in the home are not eating, or if they are intimidated by another pet. There are some pooches, however, that really are just a little more particular when it comes to their kibble.
