For centuries many people have regarded black cats as evil, or, in modern times, at least a sign of bad luck. But that notion isn’t universal. As the infographic explains, in the U.K. and Asia, black cats are even considered lucky. In fact, in Scotland, the arrival of a black cat is a signal of prosperity. Despite this, black cats make up nearly one-third of those in shelters in the U.S. and are only ½ as likely to be adopted, according to the infographic.
