You may have heard the size of an animal’s brain can indicate its level of intelligence. This infographic, published by The Guardian U.K., illustrates the brain size of many different animals in relation to their body size. As the infographic explains, the size of the animal’s brain isn’t all that matters; it’s the size of their brain in relation to their body. For example, a cat is much smarter than a hippopotamus. However, the infographic also points out size isn’t everything either. Cortical neurons also play a significant role. Humans, for example, have more cortical neurons than other animals, which makes humans the most intelligent species.
