Around the world, many fortune 500 companies are making an effort to reduce carbon emissions, whether by choice or legal mandate. This infographic illustrates the equivalent carbon dioxide savings reported by 56 fortune 500 companies. The emissions savings is expressed as quantity of coal not burned. Each company is represented by a block of coal, sized according to how much coal the company has stopped burning. The blocks are stacked on top of one another, with the stack positioned next to an illustration of the Empire State Building at scale. Next to each coal block is the company name and how many millions of pounds they’ve not burned.
