“Quite a lot has changed in the past 117 years. Thankfully, our medical practices have also evolved significantly. The New England Journal of Medicine published this infographic illustrating the top 10 causes of death in 1900 vs. 2010. Certain diseases like tuberculosis and diphtheria, which once accounted for a fair percentage of deaths, have all but disappeared. But some causes of death, like diabetes, are far more prevalent today.
