At the bottom of the infographic, the creator explains how Brazilian mythology is a conglomeration of various diverse sources. These include Portuguese and African legends and traditions as well as Biblical lore and many stories from native peoples. Some of the figures will be familiar, such as a werewolf and a hag who torments children. Others may be new to you, such as the boto encantada, a shapeshifting dolphin who seduces women.
