Information Is Beautiful published this infographic entitled “Mavericks and Heretics.” The infographic shows dozens of historical figures who were once thought to be heretics or mavericks. The individuals were experts in astronomy, biology, engineering, mathematics, medicine, and physical sciences. The infographic lists the names of each person with a picture of them on the left side of the graph. It then states the idea or philosophy they’re known for. Then, the infographic shows how old they were when they committed their “heresy” and for how long they were considered a pariah. Afterward, it shows the reaction they faced from others in their community and the world. Finally, the infographic shows how their ideas are regarded today.
