For the past few decades, Asia has been the largest textile and apparel supplier worldwide, primarily due to its low production costs and extremely low labor costs. But dynamics in the textile and apparel industries are changing, primarily due to humanitarian and economical causes. From 2015 to 2016, wages in Asia’s textile and apparel industries increased in several countries. Biz Vibe made this infographic showing the rate of change in several Asian countries. Some, like Thailand, experienced a notable increase, though for others like Indonesia, the change was slighter. The only country listed for which wages did not increase was Bangladesh.
