“Ever wonder where your food comes from? Well, in the case of meat, it’s a complicated story. This infographic illustrates the mathematics behind the sale and distribution of beef. The equation is based on the average cost of purchasing a live cow, and the average money earned by selling its parts after slaughter. The infographic also shows how much of the cow is edible for human consumption. In addition, it takes data from McDonald’s’ 2005 burger sales to calculate about how many cows McDonald’s uses every day to make its famous sandwiches.
