The National Sexual Violence Resource Center created this infographic to raise awareness regarding sexual violence in the military. The numbers are based on data compiled in 2012. The infographic begins by showing how many military men and women were in each of the five branches, as well as how many were in the military total in that year. It also shows the ratio of females to males; the military as a whole is comprised of about 14-18% women. The infographic then shares statistics regarding how many military members are estimated to be victims of unwanted sexual contact. It also shows how many service members have experienced other forms of sexual violence. At the bottom, it also notes how many service members report sexual violence, and how many cases are prosecuted. Each statistic is divided to show the numbers for men and women separately.
