Procuring food is easier than it’s ever been. Rather than hunting and gathering, most people simply head to the grocery store or a restaurant or food cart for a meal. But how does all that food get from its place of origin to your plate? In some cases, it’s quite a long journey. Teletrac Navman made this infographic titled “The Food Miles and CO2 Emissions of Producing America’s Favorite Meals.” It shows the miles popular produce items like potatoes and bananas have to travel to get to their destinations. It also illustrates the method of transport. The second section shows the C02 emissions of production for each ingredient in five common meals.
