What would you do if you won the lottery? Unless you’re already well-off, you’ve probably day-dreamed about what it would be like to be rich. The pursuit of and desire for wealth is nothing new. For centuries, people have gone to great lengths to get rich, whether through honest hard work, marriage or inheritance, or force. The Money Project made this infographic titled “The Richest People in History.” It discusses the world’s richest people who lived before the Industrial Revolution. As the creators explain, it focuses on the pre-Industrial Revolution era because after that point, wealth was evaluated differently than before. The infographic shows the name of each person along with an illustration. It also shares some pertinent details about them, such as how much they were worth and how they acquired their fortune.
